A series of three-fold photographs - each dedicated to a feeling - where the third and last shot aims to “restore the order”. Through these shots, Sara Piazza succeeds in conveying strong emotions to the viewer. Feelings are captured as they are changing: they are first portrayed and then decomposed, in order to prepare and introduce the last stage of the process, the establishment of a new order centred on a female figure. The serie-MENTE is about an introspective journey, both physical and mental. “Mente” in Italian means “mind”, and “-mente” is the suffix that recurs in every title (Lieve-MENTE, Legger-MENTE, etc.) - the keyword to interpreting these artworks. Soft, violent, claustrophobic, light: these are some of the adjectives Sara Piazza selected for her photographs: adjectives whose meaning is fully disclosed only when sided by the artist’s refined touch. Objects are decomposed into their essential structure, from which the way back to the “self” starts.
After graduating in Physics and Math, Sara Piazza decided to attend the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia in Milan, in order to pursue a professional career in photography. At the IIF, she had a chance to experiment all the potentialities of the photographic medium. At the end of her studies, she was selected by the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia to feature in a collective show organised on occasion of the eight edition of Photofestival, a cultural event sponsored by AIF - Associazione Italiana Foto e Digital Imaging - and part of the photo fair Photoshow (Milan, 2009). In the following years, Sara Piazza participated in several international art fairs. In 2013, her work was staged at Swab Barcelona, in 2014 and 2015 at the Affordable Art Fair Milano. Her shots have also been shown in France, at the Galerie Etienne des Causans (Paris, 2014), on occasion of the Salone Art3F (Lyon, 2015) and the Salon international d'art contemporain Art3F (Nice, 2015), and in the Netherlands at the Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam (2015).
