A young talent, Milan Vopálenský has become keen on photography in high school and entered the world of art as an autodidact. Having born and grown in the Czech countryside, the artist developed a passion for landscape photography. His greatest inspirations came from the morning fog and darkness, elements that drove him to acquire a surrealistic photographic technique. After having concluded his high school studies, Milan enrolled in the faculty of Humanities at the University of Prague. In those years, he took part in some competitions and his talent was recognized: in 2015 he won the first prize for the Digital Camera Magazine; in addition, in 2016 he was a finalist in the section Stories with human face of the Canon Czech competition and also Editor’s choice for 1x, thanks to his style becoming always more mature and personal. His great interest for the technique of portrait and self-portrait, with the characteristics of conceptual photography, was awarded: the artist does not portray reality as he perceives it, but the subject is photographed and then modified so as to express a certain idea. Every picture conceals a story. The photographer takes photos which are always different on the basis of the interpretation of the observer. The uniqueness of this young and expert artist lies in the interpretative force of every series and shots, in his ability of communicating with an audience never passive in front of his artworks.
