«A lightning flash...then night! Fleeting beauty / By whose glance I was suddenly reborn / Will I see you no more before eternity?»
For Baudelaire women are beings who represent the source of the most vivid and enduring pleasures; beings for whom all efforts are expended, beings as incommunicable and mysterious as God, for whom and through whom artists create their most delicate “gems”, and derive the most irritating pleasures and most fertile sorrows. For the artist, women become a sort of idol who holds fate and will suspended from their glance. Women are also the central presence in the work of Daiane Soares, who has made Paris her home, and they are something magical and mysterious to portray: a blend of lies, duplicity, sensuality and incredible power. In particular, the Moi & mes amies series combines the female corporal element with the emotional one of friendship. All the models who are portrayed, the source of the title of the individual pictures, are friends the artist wanted to interpret in pictures, giving them an untranslatable, pure and unidentifiable allure.
