The dazzling green of the Tuscan hills, rippling with the alternation of curved and linear lands, is caressed by the precious sunlight – almost golden – hiding behind the clouds scuttling across the sky. A stout and solitary tree rises vigorously in the middle: it is the only spectator of the enchantment nature offers the human eye. Chromatic contrasts and formal interplays enrich the celebration of solitude, while a peaceful atmosphere pervades this peaceful place.
An exceptional example of a natural landscape, the Val d’Orcia stretching between the provinces of Siena and Grosseto was celebrated by the painters of the Sienese school during the Renaissance. This photograph captures the Tuscan scenario in a direct and original way, conveying the sensations and history of this place.
After an educational path in which curiosity and observation were fundamental, Andrea De Amici turned to photography, driven by a passion to illustrate the cultures and people of the world through images. He specialized in portraiture and travel reports, the genres that characterize his research, after attending courses organized by Nikon. His reportage goes from Iceland to Myanmar, Morocco, Thailand, Peru and Africa. De Amici is a freelance photographer based in Milan and he parallels his photographic career with courses in digital photography and travel workshops aimed at teaching strategies, principles and techniques.
